Neil Abrams received his PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. His dissertation explored criminal corporate raiding in post-communist Europe. It sought to explain why certain countries ended up with effective property rights institutions capable of reining it in while others did not. He has done extensive field research in Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine and is currently completing a book on corruption in Ukraine. He consults businesses and other organizations about threats to property rights in emerging markets.
